Police are carrying out investigations of an incident where a middle-aged man took his own life after his wife allegedly refused to prepare chicken for him. The incident happened in Uriri, Migori County.
Speaking to the media,John Atonya who is the assistant chief of the area said that the 45-year-old man first locked himself in the house before torching it down.
“The man whose name is John Rugala locked himself inside the house before setting it on fire, it is believed that his wife refused to prepare chicken meat for him”. John Atonya revealed.
According to reports after the incident, the wife didn’t agree to the idea of Killing the chicken since the chicken belonged to their beloved daughter.
She therefore asked the husband to ask for permission from their daughter to cook the chicken. Instead of doing so, the man got angry.
The 45-year-old man is believed to have sent his wife away to create room for him to burn the house down to help him take his own life. His neighbours rushed to the scene to try and put out the fire but all their efforts was in vain.
John Rugala’s body was thereafter moved to Migori level four hospital for further investigations. Back in the area, authorities adviced the residents to always seek for best ways to solve their differences instead of using the evil ones.
I the past years, cases of people taking their own lives has been recorded. In a different case, a fresh university graduate took his own life after failing to secure a job after graduating.
Michael Kibet, a young man who had just graduated from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and technology is said to have committed the act at his brother’s place, the incident took place in lessos, nandi county.
