On Thursday 23rd June 2023, a female journalist was forced to withdraw from an event, rush home and remove her grey dress after President Ruto’s mother Sarah Cheruiyot criticised her style of dressing saying it was too short.
The 22 year old Zipporah Achieng who is a camerawoman with one of the local stations, became an unintentional star of the event where Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii was handing out title deeds to farmers in the area.
Achieng was shocked when she saw the president’s mother stand up, walk up to her and wrap a ‘Maasai shuka’ around her waist in front of everyone who was present at the event.
“I was wondering, with that short dress, how would she be able to pick up that camera in case it fell down. I chose to bless her,” Mama Sarah said
Last week, the same journalist was blocked from entering a church in Uasin Gishu where politicians were attending a Sunday service.
